Travel Awards

IBNS sponsors many Travel Awards for student and postdoc candidates so that they may have the opportunity to attend the annual meeting and present their research!

Undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral students are eligible to apply if they are members of the IBNS. *Postdocs must be within seven (7) years of receiving their Ph.D. and do not have a regular, full-time position. Login and password will be required to submit an application. Just applied for IBNS membership? Please allow 4-6 business days for your membership application to be approved. 

Travel Award applicants will be judged based on criteria specific to their level of training. In addition, travel costs will be taken into consideration in determining the final amount of the award. Travel Award recipients will be required to present a poster as well as participate in a slide blitz session. Award recipients will be required to attend the entire meeting.

Pullman Cairns International - Conference Hotel

The IBNS official conference hotel is the Pullman Cairns International, 17 Abbott Street Cairns QLD 4870. The hotel offers IBNS delegates a group rate of $249 AUD (Australian Dollars). Please note at the time of this posting this converts to $176 USD and includes GST, internet, and use of in-house recreation facilities (including gym, saunas, two swimming pools and spa). Rates are valid for three (3) days pre & post conference dates for delegates based on availability. Breakfast is not included in this rate; however, buffet breakfast in Coco’s Restaurant is available at a discounted rate of $22.00 per person if booked at time of reservation.

All rooms enjoy brilliant vistas of the magnificent harbor or the city lights, pool and mountains. Guestrooms offer the option of king, queen or two double beds. All guest rooms include private balconies, internet access, individually controlled air-conditioning, mini-bar, in-room safes, and in-room movies.

The hotel is offering a small block of rooms at a discounted price. $230 Standard Room AUD (Australian Dollars). $270 Deluxe Room AUD (Australian Dollars). These rates are available between June 22-30, 2019. All bookings are subject to availability. Rates are exclusive of Buffet Breakfast. Daily Full Buffet breakfast is available at an additional charge of $26.00 per person per day. Check-in time is 15:00; check-out time is 12:00. All rates are quoted inclusive of applicable national and local taxes.

Call for Symposia/Satellite Proposals

September 15, 2018 is the deadline for priority consideration of symposium or satellite proposals. All symposium proposals should include: title, name of chairperson(s), a substantive but succinct description of the topic and proposed talks, list of four (4) speakers, with affiliations and email address, and tentative talk titles. Limited to 4,400 characters, including spaces. The time and date are set by the Program Committee. IBNS does not provide financial support to symposium speakers or organizers. Satellites are structured and financed by the organizers. Satellite meetings may be held either prior to or after the IBNS meeting dates. Satellite proposals should also include the anticipated location and plans for financing. All proposals will be reviewed by the Program Committee and then submitted to the IBNS Council for consideration. Members and non-members of IBNS are invited to submit symposium and satellite proposals. Please submit your symposium proposal here.
